Making phone calls is the primary function of your smartphone. So, of course, it is very annoying when you dial a number and the call does not work on your iPhone. If this is any consolation, you’re not alone. This glitch is affecting many users and we are here to help you fix this issue. Check out our tips below to help fix call failure issues on your iPhone.
1. Dial *#31#
An almost sure shot, and the easiest way to fix call failed issue on your iPhone is to dial *#31#.
2. Turn Airplane mode off and on
Open the Settings app and tap the Airplane mode icon to turn it on. After 30 seconds, press the same key to turn it off. Now try to connect. Should work.
3. Restart your iPhone
Even after doing the fix above, if you are having issues with calls, try restarting your iPhone. The easiest way is to use the buttons as usual. You can also open the Settings app and tap General. Next, select Off. After a minute, turn on your iPhone and try to make a call. The problem will likely be fixed.
4. Remove and reinsert the SIM card.
All recent iPhones have a SIM card slot on the right side. Carefully remove the SIM card with an ejector or pin. Then, rub it slowly and gently on a soft, dry cloth and reinsert it.
5. Reset Network Settings
If you think that the network is causing the call to fail on the iPhone, you can proceed to reset network settings. Most of the network-related issues like not being able to make phone calls, failed messages, and cellular data issues are resolved after a reset. Note that this won’t delete any personal data, but things like your saved Wi-Fi connection, Bluetooth devices, and VPN configurations will.
- To perform a network reset, open the Settings app → General → Reset.
- Reset Network Settings → Enter iPhone passcode and confirm.
6. Reset all settings
If the less severe reset above did not help, follow the same steps above and select Reset all settings. The consequences of this are more important.
It will remove or restore all the settings you changed on your iPhone. This includes keyboard settings, home screen layout, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, VPN, location settings, and more. But it will not delete personal data such as photos, videos, apps, music, etc.
7. Update your software
- Open the Settings app and tap on General.
- Then click on “Software Update”. If you see a pending update available, tap Download and Install.
After the process is completed, there is a good chance that the call failed issue has been resolved successfully.
Maybe one day you have blocked a contact intentionally or unintentionally. To make sure the number you are trying to call is not blocked. To do this, open the Settings app and tap on Phone. Scroll down and tap Blocked Contacts.
If the person/number is added here, swipe it from right to left and tap Unblock.
9. Check if call forwarding is enabled
Call forwarding can also cause interference, so if you are experiencing connection failures, be sure to turn it off. To do this, open the Settings app and tap on Phone. Then click Call Forwarding. Wait for it to download. And if it is on, tap the toggle to turn it off.
Finally, if all else fails, contact your carrier. You can contact them via email, Twitter, or use their mobile app. Ensure that there are no unpaid invoices or unpaid payments that have caused the service to be suspended.
Here are some ways to successfully fix the connection failed issue on iPhone. I hope one of the solutions helped you to solve this problem. Finally, also try to update your carrier settings.
