However, before submitting a request to have your home concealed, make sure that your decision is final, as you will not be able to dilute your property once the request has been accepted. If you are sure, follow the instructions below.

Why should your house be blurred out on Google Maps?

  • Privacy Issues: You may not want strangers on the Internet to see where you live.
  • Security Considerations: If your home is visible on Google Maps, you may be more vulnerable to burglary or other criminal activity.
  • Prevent commercial use without consent: You can restrict the use of your home for commercial purposes without your permission, such as in real estate listings or commercial advertisements.

How to blur your house in Google Street View on Mac or PC

  1. Open any browser on your Mac or PC. I am using google chrome.
  2. head to Google Maps.
  3. Enter your home address in the search box.

  5. Click Report a problem in the lower right corner.
    Alternatively, you can tap the three dots icon → choose Report a Problem.

  7. Under Blur Request, select My Home.
    Enter additional information in the gray box below.
  8. Enter the other required information and complete the reCAPTCHA check.
  9. Click ‘Submit’.

NB: Google has not provided a procedure to check the status of your camouflage request.

How to search and determine if your house is already not visible in Google Maps

It is a good idea to double check whether or not you have blurred your residence.

  1. Go to the Google Maps Street View page.
  2. Find your address.
  3. Click on your home photo on the left under the “Photos” section.
  4. Compare the picture of your house with the pictures of neighboring homes.

It’s really blurry if you see a fake, distorted, or pixelated image of your home.
