But if you’d rather play your playlists in their actual order, you might be wondering how to toggle the shuffle option on and off.
You can turn the shuffle option on or off in the Spotify iPhone app by going to Spotify > Your Library > Select a playlist > and tapping on the Shuffle button.

One of the most useful options when upgrading from the free version of Spotify to Premium is that you can change the shuffle setting for your playlists.
Free users of Spotify can only turn off random play in rare situations involving “bespoke” playlists created for you, a specific holiday, or even themed options.
As a Premium user, you can change the Spotify setting for the playlist you’re listening to, and you can do this in several different places.
Note that you can’t prevent Spotify from shuffling playlists, because it doesn’t offer an account-level option to turn shuffle on or off. You will need to do this individually for the playlists you listen to.
So, with all those caveats out of the way, let’s see how to turn on and off the shuffle feature for Spotify playlist on iPhone.

How to turn on and off iPhone Spotify playlist
The steps in this article were done on an iPhone 13 running iOS 16. I am using the latest Spotify version (8.8.22.517) that was available at the time of writing.
Step 1: Open the Spotify app on your iPhone.
Step 2: Tap on the “Your Library” tab in the lower right corner of the screen.
Step 3: Select the playlist for which you want to disable the shuffle option.
Step 4: Click the Shuffle button to turn it on or off.
Shuffle is disabled when this button is grayed out as in the image above. If this button is green, shuffle is active for the playlist.
Now that you know how to turn Spotify’s shuffle feature on and off on your iPhone, you can control the order in which you listen to songs in the app.
Note that you can also set the toggle option in the Now Playing panel at the bottom of the screen.
Simply click on this panel to expand it, and then click on the Shuffle button.
While shuffle can be a fun way to listen to music, many people prefer listening to playlists in the order they’re currently in. Let’s hope that at some point, Spotify will provide an option to turn off mixing entirely, or give Spotify free users the option to turn it off.
