How to use Reading view in Safari on iPhone 13

The steps in this section were performed on an iPhone 13 running iOS 16.

These steps will work for most other iOS versions and most other iPhone models, including the following iPhone 13 model skins:

  • iPhone 13 mini
  • iPhone 13 Pro
  • iPhone 13 Pro Max

Step 1: Find the Safari icon on the home screen and tap on it to open the web browser.

Step 2: Navigate to the webpage you want to view in Safari’s Reader View.

Step 3: Touch the aA button next to the title/URL of the webpage to expand the reader menu.

How to disable or set reading mode on iPhone 13

There are a few other options on this menu when you’re in reading mode that you can use to customize your experience. These options include:

  • Font size buttons – The two A buttons at the top of the Reading Mode menu allow you to change the size of the text on the screen.
  • Font – Select this option to change the font on the page. You can choose from font options such as Athelas, Charter, Georgia, Iowan, New York, Times New Roman, and more.
  • Background color options. If you click here on the color options, you will modify the background color on the page. The text color will also be set to a high contrast option to make it easier to read. For example, if you choose a black background, the text will be white.
  • Website settings. From this menu, you can request a desktop website, use the reader automatically, and set permissions for features such as camera, microphone, and location.

While reading mode will work on many pages on the web, there are some where it doesn’t.
