  1. Open your image in Photoshop.
  2. Press Ctrl + L to open the Levels window.

However, you can greatly speed up this process by using the Levels tool in Adobe Photoshop CS5.

Simply take an image on a white background, such as a piece of paper, then use the eyedropper in the Levels pop-up menu to select the white area.

How to Take and Edit a Product Image in Photoshop (Image Guide)

The steps in this article were done in Adobe Photoshop. Please note that you will be able to complete these steps using almost any version of Adobe Photoshop.

Step 1: Open the product image in Adobe Photoshop.

Step 2: Press “Ctrl + L” on your keyboard to open the Levels tool.

Step 3: Click on the white eyedropper on the right side of the window.

This tool will set the white point of the image based on the selected pixel.

Step 4: Click on the white dot on the image.

Some products, depending on their size, may darken the white background.

In many cases, mapping the white point to the shadows can give the best result.

If the point you selected doesn’t give the results you want, press “Ctrl + Z” on your keyboard to deselect it, then click another point until you find the one you want.

Step 5: Click the OK button to close the Levels window, then save the image.
