Just like your computer, your iPhone may need to restart from time to time. One way to turn off the iPhone is through the Settings menu.
This option wasn’t always available, but now you can find it on iPhone 13 and other devices running the latest versions of iOS.
You can turn off your iPhone 13 by going to Settings > General > Shut Down > then dragging the slider to the right side of the screen.

Your iPhone may remain on for some time.
If you don’t let your phone’s battery drain completely and plug it into a charger every day, chances are that the device has been on for too long.
This is rarely an issue as most smartphones are designed for this type of use.
But you may find yourself in a situation where you need to turn off your phone, which may force you to look for a way to turn off your iPhone.
Whether you are going to leave it for a while or just want to turn it back on, the way to turn off the device is the same and you can do it from the settings menu.

How to turn off the iPhone
The steps in this article were done on an iPhone 13 running iOS 16.
Step 1: Locate the Settings app icon on the Home screen and select it to open the menu.
Step 2: Select “General” from this list.
Step 3: Scroll down the page and tap the Power Off button.
Step 4: Drag the Slide to Power Off slider to the right side of the screen to turn off the device.
After the iPhone turns off, you can press and hold the Power button until the white Apple logo appears, after which you can release the Power button.
The device will still restart, after which you can enter the password to start using it again.
Now that you know how to turn off your iPhone 13, you can use this technique any time you want to turn off your device, or if you’re trying to fix a problem and want to turn it back on.
Note that you can also soft reset your iPhone 13 by pressing and holding the Volume Up and Power buttons at the same time, then dragging the slider to the right side of the screen when it appears.
If your iPhone screen is frozen or unresponsive, you need to force restart your iPhone 13. You can do that by holding the volume up button, then the volume down button, and then hold the power button until the device turns on. It turns off and you should see a white Apple logo indicating restart.
